PhD student
Population Health Interventions
Current work and interests
Tala is a PhD student supervised by Prof Jean Adams and funded by the Hayes-Allen Studentship for Medical Nutrition through Peterhouse. She is undertaking a mixed-methods project to explore the associations between weight loss medications, stigma and diet. Her research examines the downstream individual and population level effects of weight loss medication use, and how this interacts with and shapes existing food and sociocultural environments that shape weight-related behaviours.
Background and experience
Tala completed her BSc in Nutrition and Medical Sciences at University College London, qualifying as a Registered Associate Nutritionist. She then completed the MPhil in Population Health Sciences at the University of Cambridge, following the Public Health stream. For her MPhil dissertation, she conducted a latent profile analysis to explore eating behaviour traits, mental health, and food insecurity in a cohort of individuals enrolled in a weight management intervention.
