Current work and interests

Marike Andreas is a postdoctoral researcher working on the NIHR grant “Multicomponent evaluation of new restrictions on marketing of less healthy foods.” Her research focuses on public health policy processes, the actors involved in policy development, and how evidence is generated, translated and used in policymaking.

Marike holds a master’s degree in School Psychology from the University of Tübingen and a postgraduate degree in Global Health Policy from the University of Edinburgh.

After completing her postgraduate degree, she worked for Cochrane Haematology, contributing to several evidence syntheses, including reviews of interventions to increase COVID-19 vaccine uptake and palliative symptom control for people with COVID-19.

She has also worked on the DFG-funded EVAPE project investigating the addictive potential of e-cigarettes, using netnographic analysis and focus groups.

Her PhD research at Heidelberg University uses a mixed-methods approach to investigate how evidence is translated into policy in the development of the German National Nutrition Strategy.

Her wider work has also addressed climate change and health, including her work on a report for the German Ministry of Health on heat adaptation and a policy analysis on the consideration of child health in national adaptation policies.
